Single Woman

As a single woman, you have the option to choose any assisted reproduction treatment. As long as you meet the requirements of each one. Among the treatments to choose are:

Artificial insemination. This is the assisted reproduction technique that is closest to the natural process. In this, the menstrual cycle is controlled in order to choose the ideal moment to introduce the donor’s sperm directly into the uterus.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). This is one of the most widely used techniques in assisted reproduction today. The name of this procedure originates from the union of donated eggs and sperm in the laboratory, i.e. a fertilization outside the woman’s body.

Egg donation. This is an assisted reproduction technique in which an egg donor is sought in order to fertilize them with the seminal sample of a donor. In this case, a double donation is used: of eggs and sperm.

Embryo adoption, also known as embryo adoption. This is an assisted reproduction technique in which donated embryos are transferred to a recipient woman who “adopts” them.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I know who the egg and/or sperm donor is? No. This is a totally anonymous process and the medical team is in charge of the selection.
  • What is the maximum age to resort to these treatments? It depends on the treatment and the case. However, the Spanish Fertility Society does not recommend treatments after the age of 50 to avoid risks to the patient.
